●Trust & compliance
Compliance
by design.
Moving money is a regulated activity, and we treat it that way. Here is how compliance shapes each Aspirations product: who we serve, where we operate, and how every payment can be verified.
Registered with FINTRAC as a Money Services Business01Our commitments
Compliance shapes the product, not the other way round.
Regulation is part of the design brief from the first sketch. These commitments apply to every product we build.
Compliance first
We build with regulation in mind from day one, aligning our products with the laws, standards and licensing requirements that apply to them.
Respect every jurisdiction
We follow the rules wherever we operate. Availability, features and onboarding adapt to local laws, and we don’t offer services where we can’t do so lawfully.
Trust by design
Security and verifiability sit at the core of every product, from how data is protected to how every action can be checked.
Accountability & transparency
Clear terms, honest communication and responsible practices, so customers and regulators always know where we stand.

What registration means
Obligations under Canadian law.
As a registered MSB, the company is subject to the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and its regulations, which require:
- 01
Compliance program
A designated compliance officer, written policies and procedures, a documented risk assessment, ongoing training and a two-year effectiveness review.
- 02
Know your client
Verifying the identity of clients and beneficial owners, and keeping that information up to date.
- 03
Reporting to FINTRAC
Including suspicious transaction reports, large cash and large virtual currency transaction reports, and terrorist property reports.
- 04
Travel Rule
Including originator and beneficiary information with virtual currency and electronic funds transfers of CAD 1,000 or more.
- 05
Record keeping
Keeping prescribed records, generally for at least five years.
- 06
Sanctions & directives
Complying with Canadian sanctions and ministerial directives.
03Compliance framework
The controls behind products that move money.
Products that handle payments or digital assets are built around a common set of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing controls, aligned with the FATF standards that national laws are based on.
Risk-based approach
Each product that handles payments or digital assets is assessed for customer, product, geographic and channel risk, and its controls are scaled to match.
Customer & business verification
Identity (KYC) and business (KYB) verification before live access, with enhanced checks for higher-risk relationships.
Sanctions screening
Customers, beneficial owners and, where relevant, wallet addresses are screened against applicable sanctions lists.
Transaction monitoring
Activity is reviewed for patterns that don’t fit a customer’s profile, combining rules with blockchain analytics.
Travel Rule readiness
Products that transfer digital assets between providers are designed to collect and exchange originator and beneficiary information where required.
Record keeping
Verification and transaction records are retained and protected for the periods the law requires, backed by immutable reports and on-chain references.
04Product by product
Independent products, independent obligations.
Each product is separate, so each carries the obligations that fit what it actually does.
| Product | What it does | Compliance focus | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| BitInvoices | Invoicing & payments | Business verification (KYB) before live payments, on-chain proof stored with every payment, and accounting reports frozen when generated. | Live |
| RemindMi | AI reminders | A consumer productivity app that does not hold or move funds. Its focus is privacy and data protection. | Live |
| MerkleCoins | Verifiable digital assets | Designed around independently verifiable records. Will launch only where it can be offered lawfully. | In development |
| BitOnRamp | Fiat on-ramp | Identity verification, sanctions screening and Travel Rule data built into the flow. Launch is subject to the required authorisations. | In development |
05Business verification
Know who you’re dealing with.
Live payments require a verified business. On BitInvoices, you can explore everything in sandbox mode right away. To go live, a business submits:
- 01Business license
- 02Tax ID
- 03Bank account proof
- 04Personal ID
- 05Proof of address
06Jurisdictions
We only operate where we can do so lawfully.
Rules for payments and digital assets differ from one country to the next. Availability, features and onboarding adapt to local law, and we don’t offer a service where we can’t offer it lawfully.
- Availability and features vary by country and region
- Onboarding requirements follow local law
- New markets open only once requirements are met
Frameworks we track
We monitor these and other regimes as they evolve. Read our overview of stablecoin regulation around the world.
07Verifiability
Proof over promises.
Wherever our products touch payments or assets, we favour records that customers, auditors and regulators can check for themselves.
- Transaction hash, addresses and confirmations stored with every BitInvoices payment
- Exchange rate recorded at the moment of pricing
- Accounting reports frozen when generated, so a closed period stays closed
- Amount
- $4.00 USD
- Exchange rate
- 1 ETH = $2,364.09

08Security & data protection
Protecting systems and personal data.
Least-privilege access
Access to systems and customer data is limited to the people and services that need it to do their job.
Data minimisation
Each product collects the information it needs to provide the service and meet its legal obligations, and no more.
Segregated reserves
BitInvoices pays refunds from a dedicated reserve, kept separate from operating funds.
09Responsible disclosure
Report a security issue.
If you believe you’ve found a vulnerability in any Aspirations product, please tell us privately so we can investigate and fix it before it’s disclosed.
- Include the affected product and steps to reproduce
- Give us reasonable time to respond before sharing details
- Don’t access or modify data that isn’t yours
